Spring miracles!

So one day back in the autumn, maybe October, I found a ladybug in my bathroom on the wall above my shower. And it wasn't moving. I figured it had wandered into my bathroom and gotten lost and died there on my wall. But I didn't move it. And I got back home a week ago from my winter in Canada and there it was, exactly where I'd left it. Still, presumably, dead. And the house had been shut down all winter long and freezing freezing as cold as it was outside with no heat whatsoever, and the poor, unmoving, and presumably dead ladybug was frozen to boot, there on the wall above the shower.

But the strangest thing happened this morning while I was in my shower - it started moving. I wasn't sure at first, maybe it was a trick of my mind. But sure enough, the ladybug came back to life (I guess wasn't really dead at all, just had decided to not move for six months) this morning. And I took him and put him outside and hopefully he has a great spring and summer ahead!

And I'm glad that whether it was because of laziness or apathy or whathaveyou, that I didn't bother to remove and dispose of the dead ladybug on my wall last autumn...

On my way.

In Billings, MT at a hotel for the night. Didn't make it as far as I would've liked - got a late start because the computer kept me from getting much sleep last night. But it's running great.

Longer drive tomorrow than I would've liked, but not a big deal.

Only notable event - I picked up a bag of Sun Chips at a gas station. Just a snack for the road. And they have this compostable bag these days, which is cool. But it's the noisiest bag in the entire world. It's remarkable how noisy it is. Hopefully they're right that the next generation of compostable bag will be quieter.

Computer Emergency.

Well. I went drastic.

I'm reinstalling my operating system. Should fix my problems, and the thought of starting with a clean slate is fun.

I think I backed up most everything I wanted to. We'll find out soon enough what got over looked before I backed things up... duh-duh-duh...

Plus how long it'll take to reinstall everything.

Also. A day of computer stuff means that I didn't have time to pack my car, etc. But everything is pretty much ready to load. Load'n'go in the morning, I guess...

And I really need a nap.

And this has just been really frustrating in general. I hope it works.

Inauspicious start

Woke up this morning and my computer isn't working. And I'm leaving to Canada... tomorrow.

This isn't good, kids. Not good at all.

Windows boots. And I'm able to log in. But once everything is loaded, the thing freezes if you try to open anything.

I'm not happy.

And, before anyone asks, I'm writing this on my parents' computer.

Maybe I'll do some blogging again?

Happy incipient New Year, all, if anyone is going to read this .

I'm leaving for Canada first thing Sunday morning, and will be flying up to my site on Thursday.

I've signed a confidentiality agreement for the company I'm going to be working for, so maybe blogging isn't such a good idea after all.

But it's good to check in here.

Let's see - new years resolutions? I'm not really the type, but maybe I'll try one? Meet S-H? Not that I'll keep it...

Book

So. I haven't been posting much, whatwithall the lack of home internets and school and things.

But on Friday I went to a bookstore to see the booktour presentation of this book, written by sort of old friends/acquaintances of mine. They go on a ridiculous road trip and get a book deal out of it. Anyway. I didn't buy the current ASS book club book whilst there. I may be dropping the ball on this go-round.

Felted slippers.

My first attempt at felting something. Slippers. They looked really bad before felting, but I think the felting improved them a lot. The shape.

I don't feel as though they shrank that much. I might have to do it again. For now, though, they'll dry. I'm ordering soles to sew on to make them more durable.
